Privacy Policy & Confidentiality Charter
Last reviewed and updated: October 2026. In mental healthcare, privacy is not just a legal box to tick: it is the sacred foundation of therapeutic trust.
1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Manmitra (“we”, “our”, or “us”), operating via manmitra.in and our in-person therapy studio in Pune, India, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of client privacy, clinical confidentiality, and digital data protection.
This Privacy Policy outlines how we gather, store, process, and safeguard your information in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and standard international clinical psychological ethics (such as APA and BACP ethical frameworks).
2. Sacred Clinical Confidentiality
Everything you disclose within the context of therapy, counselling, or parent consultations is strictly confidential. What you share in a session remains strictly between you and your practitioner.
Clinical case notes taken by your therapist are stored separately from administrative and billing data. These notes are anonymised with unique client identifiers, encrypted at rest, and accessible only by your treating practitioner.
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information or clinical records to third parties, employers, academic institutions, insurance companies, or family members without your explicit written authorization.
3. Statutory Exceptions to Confidentiality
In accordance with ethical mental healthcare practice and applicable Indian law, there are very narrow, legally mandated exceptions where confidentiality may need to be breached:
- Imminent Danger to Life: If your practitioner reasonably believes there is clear and imminent danger of severe physical harm or suicide to yourself or an identifiable other person.
- Abuse of Minors or Vulnerable Adults: Disclosure or reasonable suspicion of ongoing abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a minor (child under 18) or incapacitated adult.
- Court Order: If compelled by an official, binding subpoena or court order issued by a judge in a court of law.
Note: In the extraordinary event that any of these rare situations arise, your therapist will make every ethical effort to discuss the necessity and scope of the disclosure with you beforehand, sharing only the minimum necessary information required to ensure safety.
4. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following limited categories:
A. Contact & Scheduling Data
Your name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, preferred session times, and service interest provided when filling out our booking form or reaching out to our coordination desk.
B. Consultation Information
Clinical intake notes, goals for therapy, and background details shared during sessions. These are treated with top-tier healthcare privacy controls.
C. Technical & Website Analytics
Anonymised traffic metrics (browser type, device viewport, time spent on pages) collected through privacy-conscious telemetry (such as Microsoft Clarity). Personal input fields, form data, passwords, and private communications are never recorded or sent to analytical services.
5. Tele-Mental Health & Video Security
For clients attending therapy virtually, sessions are conducted through secure, end-to-end encrypted video platforms.
Neither Manmitra nor your practitioner ever records audio or video from your therapy sessions. Recording by clients is strictly prohibited without prior written, mutual consent to preserve a safe and confidential container.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights
Clinical case records are retained in an encrypted state for a minimum period of seven (7) years following the conclusion of therapeutic engagement (or until seven years past a minor client reaches adulthood), in accordance with clinical psychology licensing regulations.
Under Indian privacy legislation, you have the right to:
- Request confirmation of whether your personal data is being processed.
- Request a summary or correction of inaccurate administrative data.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications or administrative updates.
- Nominate an individual to exercise privacy rights in the event of death or incapacity.
